“I Have a Dream” is a famous and powerful speech delivered by Martin Luther King Jr., who was a great thinker, scholar, and political leader of America.
In his speech, Martin Luther King Jr. talks about the problems faced by Black people (Negroes) in America. In those days, American society was divided into two groups — white and black. The white people had all the power, rights, and respect, while the black people were poor, oppressed, and had no basic rights.
Black people, especially those living in Mississippi and Alabama, were treated very badly. They were forced to live like slaves for hundreds of years. They did not have proper houses, jobs, education, or freedom like white people. Their lives were full of pain and hardship.
Martin Luther King Jr. stood up against this injustice. He wanted equal rights and freedom for the black people. He believed that everyone, regardless of color, caste, or religion, should be treated equally.
